5 Reasons Why You Need a Midi Skirt

Hello Style Gawkers!

Skirts and dress are my favorite pieces of clothing the majority of the time, because they make outfits automatically less “blah,” and boring.  I’d always had, and loved shorter skater skirts, but eventually I was going to stumble across midi skirts.   My obsession may have something to do with my love of the 60s, but nevertheless, I think everyone needs a midi skirt.

Reason #1:  You Can Wear it During All Seasons

Due to midi skirt’s in-between length, they’re perfect for all seasons.  In the winter I tend to pair it with a pair of tights, and a sweater or sweatshirt.  But in the summer, I go for tank tops, t-shirts, and crop tops, like in this OOTD.  Crop tops especially balance the longer length of the skirt with the shorter length of the top.

Reason #2:  You Can Wear it for All Occasions

Typically, midi skirts tend to be feminine, girly pieces that resemble a 60s poodle skirt.   But that’s definitely not the only way you could wear and style them.  With a t-shirt, (jersey, or otherwise), and a scarf, these skirts could definitely be casual pieces.  Or, for a night on the town, you could pair a leather midi skirt with complimenting accessories.

Reason #3:  Endless Outfits

I find all skirts to be pretty easy to style multiple outfits with, but midi skirts especially.  These skirts just seem to match everything.  I’ve worn them with cropped sweaters, and low boots in the winter for a 60s feeling.  But you could also add sneakers, sandals, and scarfs for a completely different outfit.

Reason #4:  Endless Styles

There are so many different styles of midi skirts out there, I’m sure you could find one you like.  I’ve seen a variety of fabrics from tulle, to lace, to leather, to denim.  But there’s also a variety of colors and patterns, like floral prints, and plaid.  There’s also a little bit of a difference in the silhouette of some midi skirts.  Some have pleats, while others are high waisted, and shaped like a circle.

Reason #5:  Show off Your Shoes

Because midi skirts are cut off a little bit lower than normal skirts, they draw attention to your shoes.  Personally, I pair midi skirts with my newest pair of shoes, because I love them so much.  And while I don’t wear heels, a lot of people do tend to wear strappy shoes with midi skirts, to show off the detailing.

Midi skirts are pretty great, aren’t they?  I love them just as much as the next person, maybe even more.  Have I convinced you yet?  Do you suddenly feel the need for a midi skirt?  I sure feel the need for yet another one?  Did you always like midi skirts?  Let me know in the comments below.
